P21 procured design of a new build, 42 bed MSU/ PDU Mental Health Hospital on part of the existing site of the existing St Nicholas Hospital.  The mechanical design solution incorporated rain water harvesting, CHP with high efficiency absorption and electric chillers, steam to LPHW plate heat exchangers were provided for space heating and domestic hot water as it was the Trust’s site preference to avoid hot water storage for prevention of legionella risk. The plant systems were integrated with passive chilled beams and under floor heating and on-demand ventilation.
