Traditional appointment, new build scheme providing new eye infirmary facilities in Sunderland

11,000m2 new build Eye Infirmary to refresh the care specialism of South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.  The multi-storey new build includes six operating theatres and support suites, Inpatient bed wards and extensive outpatients and day case spaces.  The Trust working as part of a joint venture with Sunderland City Council jointly committed to a low carbon, low energy strategy for the new development and this development will be one of the first of its kind in health aiming for net zero / net negative in use carbon model.

CAD21 has committed to extensive research and development in offering an all electric, low carbon design solution that still meets all performance requirements set by Healthcare guidance.

The scheme design is ongoing, having achieved approval to progress beyond OBC submission.  Works have commenced towards FBC stage.
